Serving as editor, pedagogical advisor, and designer, we collaborated with Harlem-based arts organization The Laundromat Project and Betty’s Daughter Arts Collaborative to create a set of media-action curricula titled “Power of Perception.” They were designed to nurture the voices and creativities of youth and community members through truth-telling and media-making. Each workshop in the curriculum provides individuals an opportunity to explore how power, perception, and self-expression impact their lives.
Building on the acclaimed documentary “American Promise,” the curricula present models for in-classroom teaching and for communities to engage in arts-based education and dialogue.
